We can stand Amelia up against the fridge. She'll support herself for a few seconds before Preston catches her. It is fun to see what she can do each week...she'll be walking by next month!

Ready For Summer!!
First Real Laugh
I couldn't capture the exact moment, but last Sunday, almost a week ago, Amelia let out a real laugh. Not just a giggle, but a deep-belly laugh that lasted for about 30 seconds. She was on her stomach on the boppy, when, out of nowhere, the ceiling fan seemed to be this hilarious sight to her. She cracked up at the fan while Preston and I just marvelled at her. It was a proud moment, even though we had nothing to do with any of it.
Amelia is 3 Months!
We are all doing pretty well here. the challenges of being a first time parent are changing often. One week, I feel as though I am doing a supurb job as a mom. Somedays, I know what is best for this complicated and emotional little person before me. Then there are days, like this week, for instance, that I feel that I should have been doing something different all along. I suppose this is all just about becoming a parent, and being so responsible for this little life. All this aside...I LOVE IT! I love being a mom, and knowing that Preston and I will make all the decisions for her well being. I love holding her, reading to her, and talking to her as if she can understand every word I speak. Preston is such a natural dad. It is awesome seeing him with her, it almost brings me to tears. One last thought... several years back, I thought that I would never deserve the role as parent. I was determined that I would hate being a mom, and that, if I ever recieved the chance, I would ultimately fail at raising happy and loving children. Three months ago, God told me otherwise. Amelia is a true blessing, and I will never forget the joy we shared on the day we became a mom and dad.

First day back to work
Well, Today i am back at work! I am pretty sad about it all...but at the same time, I am ready to get back into the swing of things. I dropped Amelia off at her sitter's house (Kera) this morning. Kera is a friend's older sister who is a stay-at-home mom with two boys. Supposedly, the boys are pretty in love with her (as they should be). Kera will be a good match for Amelia. She will be with her two days a week. Preston stays with her on Thursdays. I'll have to admit, there were some tears this morning after dropping her off, but She did so well today that I actually made it through all day without bailling out early. It was a sweet reunion at the end of the day.
Our Baby Shower
Monday night, some friends from our church threw a small shower for Amelia and myself. It was very special. Tanya and Molly were the hostesses who were so generous to put it all together. Tanya has a cute little girl named Lily who is only 3 months older than Amelia. I predict they will be good buddies someday. Amelia borrowed her 'bumbo' seat, and took it for a test run (picture). It was a fun night out with the gals...back to work tomarrow

Childbirth class reunion
This past weekend, we had a reunion with our childbirth class. We had so much fun seeing all the babies. Becky (in picture) was the instructor, and she was such a huge part of the preparation process for us. We could not have had such an amazing experience if it weren't for her class. We lined them all up according to age. Amelia is the youngest by a day.

Well, we're a family of three! (Four, including Sipsey). Things are going so great. Amelia is 10 weeks old now, and is really showing off her personality. She smiles a bunch, and is trying out different laughs to see which one fits the best. She weighs 11 lbs 8 1/2 ozs., and is quite the chunker! Amelia is also going to be a little chatter box someday soon. Her voice is louder after much practice. She is really talking a lot, and I have discovered that one of her favorite passtimes is listening to stories read out loud to her. She shouts and talks along with the story (pausing in between the page turns, of course). She is so much fun...we cannot wait to see what's next.
